First buy of 2025.. 12:03am.
This is one of my favorite Christmas themed record. How'd they pull this off when so many attempts are failed. Interesting fact from the youtube uploader: ...also played once on Dr. Demento on Christmas Day, 1988. I remember driving up north to go skiing with my mom and listening to hours of Dr. Demento. Horrible program, but a nice memory.
Update to the site: about 75% of my inventory is ripped, chopped to 90 second clips, revised to proper file name format and uploaded. Nearly done!!!
This one stinks. I can’t find too many nice things to say about it, but it is a stark reminder not to romanticize the past too much. It’s hard to
Imagine a movie about lesbian prison gangs, drug-dealing and prison corruption not having a sense of humor about itself, but there were zero “ha ha”s. Maybe the sequel is better :)
I've taken all the lp/12" images. I'm still waiting on the very slow JP DJ store in town to fix my bum tonearm. I've called to remind them last Friday, and don't want to be a hassle. But I am impatient. On the site, I am almost done figuring out rebate codes, and things like free shipping on orders above €300, etc. That's nearly done. Then there is the coding for sending out newsletters. That will take a few days. I've also fixed a missing column in my cloud db that wasn't allowing for payment to complete on my deployed site.
Other than that, I can't think of much else the site needs. So on one hand, pretty much done. On the other, its still depending on a fixed tonearm.
I found a good Zebra thermal printer. This ought to make life easier for me. No more chaotic tapejobs and cutting labels to size like a fool. Nope, shipping is but a click or two away (plus a walk to the post office).
To those celebrating :)
Today was the first real snow. There were periods of big, heavy snowflakes while the sun was briefly shining in the afternoon too. I dropped of my 1210 at the "DJ" shop in town for some tonearm issues and for a few minor replacement parts. The snow quickly turned to ice and that is probably what we'll be left with for the next 5 months or so :)
PS: now *this* is a music video (12" incoming btw). The uploader seems quite the archivist from videos in this vein.
Starting to records some audio clips finally. There is a long, long ways to go yet, but at least i'm doing something.
Guess I am not getting one of these
:))
Even under some soul-numbing winter (close enough) winds, there is something so achingly smooth to enjoy. I'm adding this one to the shop's inventory, which should be available some day in December.
When Abilene was young and gay
And thunder storms filled up the day
The cattle roamed outside the town
Sleeping in the midday sun
Then tracks were lain across the plain
By broken old men in torrid rains
The towns grew up and the people were still
Sleeping in the midday sun
We all joined in and all joined hands
All joined in to help run this land
Then soldiers came, long long ago
Rode through the town and rode down those who were
Sleeping in the midday sun
Gold came and went, quickly spent
And the people broke down and often drowned
In the wealth and pain of old Abilene
Sleeping in the midday sun
Some lucky soul just picked up a copy of this last night right before bed. Can't never sleep till the job is done.

Lovely version innit?

Thank you John Durr for the youtube upload :)
Demonlover is a movie I knew I would love within the first few minutes. Pure nihilism maybe, some kind of cautionary tale perhaps, right now I don't know what exactly to say about this movie beside "I really liked it." I don't care if it was too long, or if it was meandering. I don't care.
Disclaimer: I have no interest, no time for anime or manga or whatever and can't imagine how people like that stuff.
This is without doubt, the strangest video I can remember seeing online. First off, some quick facts.. This is an excerpt from a John Lennon tribute DVD recorded in NYC during the immediate post 9/11 era. The excerpt is of Disgraced Actor Kevin Spacey singing "Mind Games". He does a great job, to be Frank, but this has to be in the middle of his Epstein-assisted abuses. I guess he is pretty much an internationally hated or forgotten figure now, which is for the best, I guess, for everyone's sake. But then I read some of his Wikipedia and watched an interview with his *very strange* brother talking about the abuse they suffered at the hands of their dad. And the whole thing is a sad cycle of cruelty and disregard. But Glengarry Glen Ross was a good movie and he sings this song pretty well too.
Comin' along, comin' along. Somehow there are a few nice brasileiro and 日本語 records coming in, as well as some heavy British ones as usual. It's been extremely stormy here this week, but I'm managing running back 'n' forth to the Postnord ombud.
