Un Gogo Funk Pour Les Élèves Sinistrés 7"

Créole Star

Sacem, Guadeloupe ???

Créole Star (Rémy Régent) is best known for his Funky Dance 7" on Slim Productions. It fits the vein of a mid-'80s French electro/hip-hop adjacent record. "Un Gogo Funk Pour Les Élèves Sinistrés" is something different imo. For those who don't speak French (such as myself), the title translates to "A Gogo Funk For Affected Students" which is almost certainly not the most accurate wording. But anyway, this 7" was pressed in Guadeloupe. There is a map of the island on the sleeve. I would definitely favor the instrumental here (although the vocal is available on a Rémy Régent LP). The song is soulful and sweat. The urgency from Funky Dance has eroded to a mellow islands funk. Very unique sound!

Both vinyl and sleeve are graded as Very Good Plus. The sleeve is a thicker style of paper with a glossy finish. Images and audio clips are from the copy for sale.
